The Felton Valley (near Toowoomba, Queensland) has been hosting a Food Festival since 2012 for the purpose of showcasing the district’s agriculture and its farmers.  Over 4000 people attended the first Festival and the Felton community was overwhelmed by the support shown for its local farmers and the food they produce. Following this encouragement, changes were made in 2013 with more space made available to food stalls in a much larger and more shaded Festival site overlooking the beautiful Felton Valley.  The new site proved a great success and the Festival’s popularity continued to grow in 2014 with over 10,000 people estimated to have attended.  Preparation is well under way for the next Food Festival to be held on Sunday 12th April 2015.  More celebrities will be coming to entertain and educate us about growing and preparing our food and even more food stalls and local food businesses will be invited to promote their culinary delights and products.

The Felton district is just 30Km south-west of Toowoomba and is a particularly picturesque part of the Darling Downs.  Felton boasts magnificent scenery, clean air, rich fertile black soils and a climate that enables it to grow food crops all year round.  Felton farmers produce a wide variety of crops including wheat, barley, chickpeas, mungbeans, sunflowers, lettuce, cabbages, beetroot, celery and onions.  The district is also a significant producer of beef, lamb, pork, poultry, dairy and eggs.

The Felton Food Festival is a great day out for all ages with plenty to eat, see and do.  The organisers are dedicated to keeping the Festival entertaining and affordable for everyone. Stonestreets Coaches will again be running free buses from Toowoomba to the Festival. Click here for details and book on (07)4687 5555.
